Doug Lipps

Doug Lipps, originally from Montreal, began his journey into drag racing in 1974 at the age of 19. Teaming up with fellow street racer Alan Marsh, Doug transitioned into NHRA Drag Racing, which soon led them to Toronto, where they met other passionate racers. Together, they opened two speed shops named Engineered Racing, which became hubs for the local racing community.
Eventually, Doug and Allen expanded their vision by founding Competition Automotive Chassis and Machine Shop, where they focused on building roll cages and engines, initially for their own use and later for a growing customer base.
their expertise became particularly recognized within the modified Eliminator class. In the early 1980s, Doug and Allen ventured into the Pro Stock class, racing a Camaro and two Chevrolet Cavaliers. Doug's technical skills, along with his passion for drag racing, helped make competition automotive a respected name in the industry. His combined racing and business career flourished over 50 years, marked by a dedication to advancing the sport.
Doug's legacy in drag racing endures beyond his passing in December 2023. His contributions to the sport and his role in shaping the Canadian drag racing community will be remembered fondly. Accepting his posthumous induction into the Canadian Drag Racing Hall of Fame are his wife, Maureen, and his sons, Jansen and Ryan.
