Since 1997, Raymond has been a trailblazer in the Pro Modified class, competing and excelling in both IHRA and NHRA events. Notably, he is one of Canada’s pioneering drivers to achieve a five-second pass and the first Canadian to surpass the 250 mph mark. In 2008, Raymond joined the prestigious 5-Second Club in the United States at the NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Florida—Canada’s first to do so and only the fourth competitor ever to reach this milestone in the U.S. Raymond’s impressive list of victories includes winning the IHRA Norwalk event in 2006, securing the IHRA Grand Bend win in 2007, and claiming victory at the NHRA Englishtown Pro Modified race in 2009. His record-setting 5.817-second pass at IHRA Budds Creek in 2009 further solidified his reputation. In 2007, Raymond capped an outstanding season by finishing second in NHRA points, underscoring his consistent excellence. With over 30 years of racing experience, beginning in Pro Street before moving to Pro Modified across Canada and the U.S., Raymond’s career is marked by remarkable achievements and record-breaking performances. With tuning assistance from Hall of Famer Al Billes, Raymond has demonstrated unparalleled skill and commitment, establishing himself as a true icon in Canadian drag racing history.
