Vern's drag racing career, spanning from the early 1970s, left a lasting mark on Canadian motorsport. Known for his versatility, he drove a range of vehicles, including the Fiat Econo Altered, Alcohol T, and various Funny Cars like Hot Wings, Hot Stuff, the Eat More Daytona Achieve A, and Prairie Fire. Competing against renowned racers such as Reynolds and Bateman, he achieved impressive performance milestones, including five-second passes and 0.91-second 60-foot times. Beyond driving, Vern excelled in engine tuning and car building, later restoring iconic vehicles like the Outcast AA Fuel Altered and the Dyer AA Funny Car. He also built and raced the Mob AA Fuel Dragster and the nostalgic Wonder Wagon Funny Car. For over two decades, Vern has documented Western Canadian drag racing history, solidifying his legacy as a passionate and skilled contributor to the sport.
